2018 Guadeloupe & Dominica SailVenture

2018 SailVenture: Guadeloupe & Dominica

January 13, 2018 - January 20, 2018

Join us on the trip of a lifetime: a one week sailing adventure exploring the islands of Guadeloupe, Dominica & surrounding islands!

The Plan

We will be chartering a 2012 Catana 47 catamaran from January 13 – January 20, 2018 from Pointe a Pitre, Guadeloupe.  There will be a captain &  co captain on the boat to be your host & guide.  There will be a total of 8 people on board the boat. We will explore parts of Guadeloupe, Dominica & surrounding islands.  Below is an example itinerary that is tentative & subject to change based on the groups expectations & desires for the trip: it will be customized to the group!

Itinerary & Highlights

January 10: Fly from Houston to San Juan, Puerto Rico. Layover in Puerto Rico for one night!

January 11 – 12: Fly from San Juan, Puerto Rico to Pointe a Pitre, Guadeloupe.  We will spend 2 nights on Guadeloupe doing a little exploring of Guadeloupe (Pointe a Pitre, Sainte Anne, Saint Francois), checking out the marina & begin to provision the boat.

January 13: Check in to Dream Yacht Charter & board the boat.  Finish provisioning, check out snorkel gear, get settled on the boat.  First evening sail to Gosier du Ilet & dinner aboard.

January 14: Morning sail to the island of Marie Galante.  We will spend the day exploring the island, relaxing on the beaches, & enjoy dinner ashore that evening.

January 15: Morning sail to Portsmouth, Dominica.  Explore on shore & dine ashore that evening. There are  a couple of bars on the hilltop that will have a spectacular view of Portsmouth & the anchorage.

January 16: Morning tour of the Indian River with a local guide.  Head back to the boat for an afternoon sail down to Roseau, Dominica.

January 17: Many adventurous options on this day!  Go on one of several hikes in the area including a hike to Trafalgar Falls or hike to the Boiling Lake on top of a mountain or hike to the mud baths.  In the evening, enjoy exploring the town of Roseau.

January 18: Early, early morning sail to Les Saintes.  This will take a good portion of the day but there are crystal clear waters to take a swim or snorkel in when we arrive to our anchorage.

January 19: Explore the islands of Les Saintes, relax, swim & snorkel!  Last night on the boat to enjoy the sunset & look for the green flash.

January 20: Head back to Pointe a Pitre to return the boat.  Unload the boat, clean up & spend one last night on the island of Guadeloupe.

(Optional Days Prior to Sailing): It is recommended you arrive 1 -2 days before the sail trip to acclimate to the time change, recover from traveling, etc.  Traveling to Pointe a Pitre is not always done in one day.  Often you will have a lay over in San Juan or Miami, so do keep that in mind.  The following is a tentative schedule including 3 days prior to departure on the boat & one day after returning the boat.  You can plan to get a hotel on your own or join the captains & co-captains early & stay in a Caribbean villa/condo. (The cost for the room in the villa will be in addition to the charter)

Additional Info:

  • This trip is designed to give you a real chartering experience.  You will participate in all aspects of the charter including checking out the boat, provisioning the boat, checking the boat in & out of customs between islands, etc.
  • We are keeping the group small.  There will be no more than 2 boats going so space is limited (Maximum 6 cabins available).  This is so we can keep the trip more personal & customize the trip to our group.
  • The deadline to reserve your cabin & be paid in full is October 1, 2017.  The sooner you can reserve, the better!
  • A payment plan is available & we will work with you individually if this is needed.
  • There will be no cancellations taken after October 1, 2017 unless you can find someone to take your place.
  • We will have already paid your way on the boat by this time & there will be absolutely no refunds.
  • We will have a pre-trip meeting approximately 1-2 weeks before the trip to finalize details, introduce everyone to the group, & make sure we are all on the same page. (This is not mandatory)
