Mark your calendars and plan to join us at Waterford Harbor Marina for some outdoor fun! The 2024 show promises to be exciting with more new yachts to see as well as many of the same great features from last year: Palapa Mac will once again be broadcasting live with fun Trop Rock music, free educational seminars will be offered, Outrigger’s Taco Truck will be selling delicious food onsite both Saturday and Sunday and the Saturday evening concert will begin at an earlier time so more attendees can enjoy the entertainment. We will offer free off-site parking at Stewart Elementary School and free shuttle service to and from the show.

*PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL NOT BE ONSITE PARKING FOR BOAT SHOW ATTENDEES AT WATERFORD HARBOR MARINA THIS YEAR! We have arranged, however, for FREE PARKING and SHUTTLE BUS SERVICE from Stewart Elementary School. Please read the PARKING section for more information.

I bring bittersweet news from The Renegade Mermaid and SailVenture Charters. The Renegade Mermaid is coming back to Texas. But not for long. We’re reluctantly, sorrowfully leaving the Windward and Leeward Islands. For now. We will miss the many beautiful places and beautiful people that we have come to call friends there. The last seven years in the Caribbean have been fabulous. Many, many wonderful memories, with many, many wonderful crews. While we will always cherish the memories and the time spent there, we’ve got new places to see and more things to do.

One of the many exhilarating and adventurous opportunities offered by the Caribbean and Gulf of Mexico is hurricane season. While some have parties for these occasions, insurance companies tend to take a more serious approach. Their seriousness is demonstrated in the form of dollar signs and decimal point placement. I say all this to explain why The Renegade Mermaid is returning to Texas. Rather than just sitting in Grenada or Trinidad costing money this upcoming hurricane season, we’re bringing her back to Windward to rejoin the charter fleet. But she’s not staying long.

Bahamas anyone? Yup. We’re going to The Bahamas. This will be uncharted waters for The Renegade Mermaid and SailVenture Charters. We haven’t spent much time in the Bahamas, but we’ve heard a lot of great things about it. Geography isn’t the only change coming to SailVenture Charters. We’re also offering a variety of new trip length options. Unlike our previous trips, which were all eight day seven nights, we’ll now be offering as little as three-day two-night trips up to our traditional eight-day seven-night trip.

Clifton Bay – Nassau, Bahamas

One of the many reasons we’re excited about The Bahamas is how easy it is to get there. The Renegade Mermaid will be “based” in the vicinity of Nassau to pick up guests. There are affordable direct flights straight from Houston and many other U.S. cities. This reduces the travel time and allows for a variety of trip lengths. The three-to-four-day trips will predominately stay around Nassau. The longer trips will explore The Exumas. Details for these changes will be coming soon as we work on updating the website.

Warderick Wells – Bahamas

While it is just flat out sad to think about not going to the Windward and Leeward Islands next year, it is exciting to see a new adventure on the horizon. We’ve spent brief moments in the Bahamas and it’s wonderful. We have friends who have spent significant time there and rave about it. The more we research The Bahamas the more intrigued we become. We hope that a more flexible schedule and an easier travel itinerary will allow SailVentures to fit into more of your schedules. We look forward to seeing you aboard The Renegade Mermaid in the Bahamas.

A Three Hour Tour

WOW! What can I say? It was a heck of a three hour tour. The Inaugural Spring Fling Gilligan’s Island Party was an absolute success. When Robert and Camille walked up as Mr. and Mrs. Howell, I thought we were actually on set. Or, on island. Thanks to everyone for participating and making it fun. We’re already looking forward to doing it again next March. If you weren’t able to make it, don’t worry too much. It’s not too early to mark your calendars for September 21st, this year’s Capt.
